According to GameStop's Eddie Makuch, Square Enix has filed a trademark for something called "Deus Ex: Human Defiance." Although that is really all we know about it, there's a pretty good chance that it'll be a sequel to 2011's Deus Ex: Human Revolution! So, anyway, what would you guys like to see in this sequel if it is in fact a sequel?
If you haven't played the series before, Deus Ex is a cyber punk styled game that takes place far into the future where people are connected to the net, and they have augmented their bodies as well. The games are first person action RPGs, and they all give you the freedom to do just about ANYTHING you want! There's really no limits on how to deal with something, and the entire game is based around you putting together your own plans, and then following through with them. Really the gameplay is kind of hard to explain in words, but if you've played the game for yourself; you'll know exactly what I'm talking about! Still, what about the sequel?
Well if Human Defiance is in fact a sequel to Human Revolution, I'm kind of wondering just how this will play out. You see Human Revolution was actually a prequel to the original Deus Ex games which came out many years ago in the early 2000s, and because of that the game sort of sets up the earlier games. I mean since it is a prequel you can play it as the "first" game in the series, but most fans already know what happens next. So, how would Human Defiance fit into things?
Right now I'm kind of wondering if they will be rebooting the series. Without giving too much away about Human Revolution, the ending of it flat out shows something that leads up to the events of the first game, but because of that I'm sure some fans will be thinking that it ended in a cliff hanger. It is very possible that Human Defiance will either be a remake of that first game, or it is also possible that it will take place during a different point of time as a completely new game. But, what do you guys think? Think it'll be a sequel to Human Revolution? Think it'll be a remake of the original Deus Ex? Or could it be something COMPLETELY different? It turns out "Deus Ex: Human Defiance" is the name of the upcoming Deus Ex live action movie, but that doesn't mean there won't be a game sequel as well! On 3/5/2013, a domain for "Deus Ex: The Fall" was registered. Although nothing has been confirmed, it seems that it will in fact be a follow up to Human Revolution.
