Today was a little bit of unexpected news. During today's Xbox Series X event Namco Bandai announced their newest JRPG project, a game called Scarlet Nexus. Brought to us by the team behind Tales of Vesperia, Scarlet Nexus is an anime styled game where you use ESP powers to control objects in the environment to fight horrifying monsters. While not too much is currently known about the game, the game's official page sums it up as follows:
In a far distant future, a psionic hormone was discovered in the human brain, granting people extra-sensory powers and changing the world as we know it. Just as humanity was entering this new era, deranged mutants known as Others began to descend from the sky with a thirst for human brains. Highly resistant to conventional attack methods, extreme measures needed to be taken to battle the overwhelming threat and preserve humanity. Those with acute extra-sensory abilities, known as psionics, were our chance to fight the onslaught from above. To this day, psionics have been scouted for their talents and recruited to the Other Suppression Force (OSF), humanity’s last line of defense.
It's page also goes on to mention it being optimized for the Series X, with up quick load times, high quality graphics, and it will run at up to 120 FPS. With Microsoft starting to focus more on Japanese games and their developers in general it's nice to see more devs jumping on board, and hopefully we'll be seeing even more Japanese games in the future.
