Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement Announced to be Released 2026

Bloodstained The Scarlet Engagement is a sequel to Bloodstained Ritual of the Night

The game is set to release in 2026 and you follow two new protagonists named Alex and Leonard in what seems to be in a similar style to Castlevania Portrait of Ruin. Here is a bit of info the developers shared:

Unravel the dark history of the Bloodstained universe and explore a hauntingly immersive 16th-century England steeped in a 2.5D gothic atmosphere, enthralling players in strategic battles, crafting, and exploration across a sprawling, cursed land.

The story unfolds as a mysterious ethereal castle, under the control of "Demon Lord Elias," casts a shadow over the land, terrorizing citizens with its demonic forces. Time and again, the Kingdom and the Church have deployed strike forces— each effort ending in failure. As another opportunity arises, two heroes are brought together by fate. Leonard Brandon, a young fighter with the Church's Black Wolves clan and Alexander Kyteler, a knight of the Kingdom's White Stags and lone survivor of an initial, unsuccessful expedition.

Join Leo and Alex as they rise together to defeat Demon Lord Elias’s reign of terror and shatter the chains of a kingdom tormented by evil forces.

As a backer myself of the original Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night I just got to say, I am really excited to see how this sequel shapes up, also as someone who started with Metroidvanias through Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin I am very glad to see the buddy system back in all of its glory. The game has been announced to be released on Xbox, PS5 and PC through Steam and Epic (as of writing this no confirmation yet on a Switch 2 release) If you want to wishlist the game it does have a Steam page up right now.
