When players reached the end of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, one of the biggest surprises was to see Nintendo listed in the credits.
Like Death Stranding before it, the game has launched as a PlayStation exclusive making it weird to see Nintendo's name. Well, it turns out there is a simple explanation.
Andy Robinson of VGC has investigated the reasoning why Nintendo's name appears in the credits, and the answer is: they purchased the animation studio in 2022.
The studio's name was Dynamo Pictures, and they worked on the original Death Stranding as well. After Nintendo purchased them in 2022, they were rebranded as Nintendo Pictures and have only worked on Nintendo exclusive IPs. Since Death Stranding 2: On the Beach has been in development for quite some time, it is safe to assume the deal was already in place, or they completed their work prior to Nintendo stepping in.
And that's all there really is to it! Nintendo themselves didn't have a hand in the game's development, it was Dynamo Pictures.
