Tatsuya Kando has announced that he has left Square Enix after 29 years with the company.
During his time at Square Enix, Kando worked on series like Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts, but he was also the lead director on The World Ends With you and its sequel NEO: The World Ends With You.
While he didn't state his reasons for leaving the company, he had one last message to fans thanking them for all the support over the years.
Here's a rough translation of what he had to say:
On a personal note, I left Square Enix Co., Ltd. on May 31st. During my 29 years there, I was involved in many projects, including "Final Fantasy," "Kingdom Hearts," "The World Ends with You," and many more... I was able to gain invaluable experience.
The feedback we received from everyone who played the game was very encouraging and became the driving force behind our daily development. I'm really grateful! Thank you so much! We will continue to work hard to create interesting content that will make everyone smile!
