Rock Band 4 to be Removed From PlayStation and Xbox October 5th, Series Continues in Fortnite

Rock Band 4
is turning 10 on October 5th, and due to this anniversary the game will be removed from both the PlayStation and Xbox digital stores.

This removal is due to the licensing of music used in the base game, as well as its large library of DLC. Each song is only licensed for 10 years, and must be removed if the deal renewed.

With Rock Band 4's successor Fortnite Festival still going strong, and receiving new songs each week, development on Rock Band 4 itself has completely stopped since the game's introduction in 2023.

On the plus side, those who own Rock Band 4 and its DLC can continue playing or even re-download the content in the future.

Currently the game can be purchased for $9.99, so those wanting to have a chance to play it in the future can buy it now before it is too late. As for the DLC, each song is on a 10 year time limit, so players should carefully consider which songs to add to their library before they miss their chance.

For more, here is the official notice released by The Rock Band Team

Hey Everyone, On Sunday, October 5, 2025, Rock Band 4 turns 10. What a ride it’s been. With this milestone comes one big change: the original licenses for the core soundtrack are expiring. Because of that, Rock Band 4 will be removed from the PlayStation and Xbox digital stores. If you already own the game, nothing changes — you’ll keep full access and still be able to download the game and songs to any new, compatible devices. The same applies to Downloadable Content (DLC): songs will come down as they hit the 10-year mark, but anything you’ve purchased will remain in your library. We’re so grateful for the passion this community has shown. From the team, it’s been a special experience to serve you with Rivals challenges, a super deep DLC library and a best in class band sim. If you’ve been meaning to grab a few last songs, now’s the time. Thanks again,

The Rock Band Team

As for Fortnite Festival, the game is compatible with Rock Band and Guitar Hero controllers, and songs previously featured in Rock Band titles have been added to the lineup. Unfortunately players have to purchase songs they may have once already owned, or they can wait for them to be featured in the free weekly lineup.
