The upcoming horror indie title The Way hOme, has officially been canceled by the development team.
The Way hOme would've allowed players to take on the role of a cat who can see the paranormal, and explore haunted locations in Japan. It was previously set to release on PC and consoles on October 30th, 2025, and featured unique "cat mechanics," such as a claw sharpening.
A reason for the sudden cancellation was not given, however developer Joyful Calamity had this to say:
I'm sorry. Many people paid attention to "The Way hOme," but due to various circumstances, we have decided to cancel the development of this work. I cannot say the reason for the cancellation now.
like many of the articles published surrounding this game i would image this post was also written by AI, the hash tag for every post on twitter from the developer always translated to "this is not a real game"
