Titanfall fans rejoice! An extremely impressive, new indie game named Diesel Knights was announced as part of a Kickstarter project and it has blown through its initial funding goal of $45,000.
At the time of writing this, it has passed $200,000 raised. Diesel Knights aims to recapture the incredible, unique action of the Titanfall franchise, which has unfortunately been dormant for nearly a decade now. While the gameplay of Diesel Knights is clearly inspired by the fluid movement system and mech combat of Titanfall, the visual aesthetic is notably different. Tapping into an industrial, vaguely World War 2 era design, Diesel Knights looks more akin to alt-history games like BioShock or Iron Harvest, though considerably more pulpy and fun, almost like this takes place in the same universe as The Rocketeer.
About via Diesel Knights' Kickstarter Page
Diesel Knights is a PvP Mech/Movement Shooter set in a pulp-inspired, dieselpunk world. Players assume the role of the titular "Knights," brave gunwalker pilots of the 407th Special Armored Calvary Regiment, and engage in frenetic multiplayer combat both on foot, using advanced parkour movement mechanics and mid-century inspired weapons and gadgets, or in the cockpits of towering, 65-ton, diesel-powered mechs.
Diesel Knights is a response to a kind of design philosophy that’s all but vanished - the belief that a PvP shooter can be fast, expressive, and deeply mechanical without being a grind. It’s built on the idea that mastery itself is the reward; not battle passes, not loot boxes, just the feeling of momentum, weight, and speed.
We're asking for your help to build a simple game that knows what it is: a focused, mechanical shooter with a clear identity and tone. The combination of advanced movement and mech combat deserves another chance, and we're ready to carry that torch. With your support, we can implement new weapons, new maps, and online server integration.
Per the Kickstarter page, the game aims to launch on PC first, via Steam, with a GOG release planned later. PlayStation and Xbox console ports were listed as stretch goals, and given that all stretch goals have been met, those ports should be happening as well.
The game will feature a cooperative PvE mode, cooperative offline modes, as well as local multiplayer with splitscreen for up to four players.
