DUSK INDEX: GION Announced for Switch, PS5 and PC, Launches January 2026 With Demo Now Available

Bushiroad and Cherrymochi have announced DUSK INDEX: GION, a brand new suspense visual novel, will be launching on January 29th, 2026 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox and PC via Steam.

In addition to the announcement, a demo is now available on Steam to give players a first look at what's in store before the title's full release.

About:

In present-day Kyoto, old-school detective Daiki Katsuki reluctantly joins forces with Rio Quinn, a reclusive prodigy known for designing Echoes of Kyoto, an immersive AR simulation of the city as it existed a century earlier. The answers Katsuki seeks may lie inside Quinn’s artificial world—one that feels less virtual the closer they get to the truth.

Meanwhile, in Meiji-era Kyoto, the cool-headed Masayoshi Nagahama investigates a series of blood-marked murders alongside Saki, a renowned geisha with hidden ties to the case. As their pursuit unravels the crime’s origins, the truth threatens to bleed forward in time.

Two centuries collide. Motives echo across history. And somewhere in the overlap, a killer waits.

STORY

Can a century-old murder rewrite the future?

Kyoto, Meiji era.
A string of brutal killings shakes the city. Cryptic symbols are found, carved in blood.
The cases go unsolved, leaving a stain on history.

Kyoto, present day.
Detective Daiki Katsuki discovers a corpse mirroring the old killings.
The answer points to one strange lead: Echoes of Kyoto, an AR reconstruction that lets users “walk” the past through cutting-edge contact lenses.

Its creator is Rio Quinn—a genius engineer, and the only person who may understand why history is repeating itself.

But when the pair enters the AR world, the simulation changes.
History flexes. Reality warps.
Something inside Echoes of Kyoto is alive.

Is a copycat killer on the loose?
Or is someone—or something—from the past still hunting?

A future trapped by history.
A past refusing to die.
When the timelines collide, Kyoto will never be the same.
