Well folks, today is the day. Medabots has officially returned to the West after more than two long decades of us non-Japanese fans waiting for news. We've touched on and covered Imagineer's copyright woes and eventual victory over the rights to the Medabots name. We also shared a story earlier this year that Imagineer wanted to bring their mobile title Medarot Survivors to global audiences. Now that their legal concerns have cleared up, it appears that their global ambitions have come to fruition. Once again using the Medabots name, Medabots Survivors is now available to pre-register on iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play Store) storefronts. A release date was not provided.
Medabots Survivors is a "Survivors-like" in that it's based around the mechanics and gameplay pioneered in the hit game Vampire Survivors. As I stated in my prior article about this game, this isn't really a genre that I'd typically be interested in, but given that it's connected to my beloved Medabots, I'll be there on Day 1 and try to support it any way I can to show interest. I think this was a coordinated move by Imagineer to utilize the popular "Survivors-like" genre to try to reintroduce Medabots with this game and gauge interest in the West for them to potentially release future titles, like the other popular mobile title Medarot S or the Medarot Classics Plus collection on Nintendo Switch.
I personally never thought we'd see this day. Medabots fans, today is a victory. Go out and show your support so we can get more games beyond this one mobile title.
