5 Indie Games We Can't Wait to Play

Happy Friday, everyone! It has been quite some time since our last Friday Game List, and for our return, we wanted to do something a little different.

Each and every day, countless indie titles get announced, and many of them simply get overlooked. It's understandable considering how many games get released each year, and a lot of the time, it is the larger "AAA" titles that steal the spotlight. So, for today's list, we wanted to take a look at five upcoming indie games that we are personally excited for and feel you be too! These are mostly titles we've previously featured on the site, but considering many of them are buried hundreds of articles back at this point, we wouldn't blame anyone for forgetting they are on the way.

The following games are in random order, so don't think we prefer one over the other; they have all honestly piqued our interest for their own reasons.

Liminal Point

Liminal Point is a survival horror game developed by HideWorks and set to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in the near future. While their previous title was a unique first-person horror "spot the difference" game, Liminal Point takes players back to the good old days of classic survival horror, with fixed camera angles and highly detailed 3D environments to explore.

The game follows Lyra, of the band The Fallen Fairies, as she is drawn to Ashen Point Island after receiving a cryptic message from their missing lead singer, Mira. Upon arriving on the island, Lyra finds herself thrown into a nightmare as the lines of reality begin to blur while she explores the fog-covered city.

Drawing inspiration from titles such as Resident Evil and Silent Hill, the game puts a heavy focus on exploration and puzzle-solving, and players will need to manage their resources as they progress. Sometimes running from a fight is ammo well saved, and planning one's route ahead of time can be the difference between life and death. Make one wrong move, and Lyra will pay the consequences.

Previously, HideWorks told us the game would allow for unlimited saves for those who struggle with the classic survival horror style, but an option to lock saving behind an item will be available as well. Overall, it seems the developers want to create a title that classic Resident Evil fans will enjoy while also ensuring it appeals to a modern audience.

We personally are looking forward to seeing where this title goes, and we cannot wait to finally play it for ourselves!

Silent Planet - Elegy of a Dying World

Silent Planet: Elegy of a Dying World is a title we've discussed quite a bit here at Netto's Game Room, but it is also one that has changed significantly since its initial announcement.

Developed by Vertex Zero—a team consisting of members who have previously worked on titles for Eidos—the game is a gothic sci-fi Metroidvania inspired by the likes of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

Set in the year 2997, the story follows Apranik as she travels to the planet Thulcandra in search of an ancient artifact known as the "Angel’s Egg." Said to hold the key to the origins of all life, the artifact lies hidden within a claustrophobic subterranean complex. As Apranik explores the depths of Thulcandra, she must confront the remnants of technological and biological horrors left behind by a long-extinct civilization.

Similar to the titles that inspired it, Silent Planet contains RPG elements and features a "Dynamic Environment" system. This allows Apranik to use her powers to interact with the world itself and discover hidden secrets. While the game features a single, interconnected main map, several smaller, distinct locations will be included as well.

With its detailed pixel art, smooth animations, and gruesome enemy designs, the game is visually stunning. It seems to perfectly capture the feel of classic Metroidvanias while tailoring the experience for the modern day. It will be available on PlayStation, Xbox and PC.

MIGHTREYA

MIGHTREYA
is an upcoming superhero action game by indie developer Wazen and publisher 505 Games. In the game, players take on the role of Reya as she and her manager, Nio, attempt to become Hero Content Creators after mysterious beings begin to emerge from another dimension.

Set in Japan, the game features an open city where Reya can fully explore the streets and building tops, and even take flight to battle the multiple enemies and bosses encountered throughout the game. With a heavy focus on high-speed anime action, Reya is able to move at exhilarating speeds, deliver devastating combos effortlessly, and unleash a torrent of attacks with a single push of a button.

The game is currently set to have roughly 38 stages to explore, with 24 enemy types and 30 unique attacks and abilities. It will also feature a weather system across each stage. It has been stated that the game will include an engaging cast of characters, all of whom are fully voiced in Japanese by a professional cast.

While the style may not appeal to all gamers, if you are looking for a title that simply lets you let loose and throw giant monsters across a city, then this might be the perfect game for you. It is currently set to release in the spring of 2026.

Black Finger JET

Black Finger JET is a unique upcoming title that has flown under the radar for many. Published by Red Dunes Games—the same publisher behind Silent Planet—the game is being developed by KOHACHI STUDIO and ACQUIRE Corp. KOHACHI STUDIO is an indie studio formed by former Metal Slug developers, with Black Finger JET itself serving as a spiritual successor.

Featuring classic run-and-gun gameplay, players are able to use a wide variety of handguns, machine guns, shotguns, and vehicles across both land and water. The game utilities the classic 8 direction aiming system, and will see players fight their way across multiple arcade styled stages filled with monsters.

While information regarding the title has been scarce, the development team has proven themselves time and time again with each release of Metal Slug. While that doesn't necessarily guarantee a great game, we are hopeful that Black Finger JET will be exactly what the world has been missing for nearly 17 years.

It is currently set for a PC release.

Mina The Hollower

The final game on our list today is one many fans have been highly anticipating since its announcement.

Mina the Hollower is the next title by Shovel Knight developer Yacht Club Games, which draws heavy inspiration from titles such as The Legend of Zelda and, surprisingly, from Disneyland as well—a fact we learned after speaking with Sandy Gordon back in 2024.

With Gothic horror and Game Boy-style aesthetics, the game puts players in the shoes of Mina, a renowned Hollower, as she attempts to rescue a cursed island. Along the way, Mina must fight off monsters, burrow beneath hazards, and upgrade her arsenal as she progresses across the island via a classic top-down perspective. Despite the retro look, however, the game features refined modern mechanics and plenty of surprises to encounter along the way.

With a variety of exotic locales and a bizarre cast of characters, the game is shaping up to be Yacht Club Games' biggest title yet.

And that is it for our list today! We tried to keep it simple and to the point, but feel free to click on the name of each game to view past articles and trailers if you'd like to learn more. There are plenty of other indie games on their way, but the above five are ones we personally cannot wait to play.
