Originally released on PC in 2019, Basketball Classics is now available on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Series X|S.
"This has been a childhood dream of ours," said Namo Gamo co-founder David Pilkington. "Now, almost a decade in the making, Basketball Classics will be available to new users on consoles worldwide. Thanks to Acclaim for making this dream a reality. We can't wait to follow this up with Super Basketball Classics."
In addition to Basketball Classics, Super Basketball Classics is set to release later in 2026. Recently we here at Netto's Game Room were given the opportunity to speak with the developers regarding the upcoming title, but we'll have more information to share on this at a later time.
Until then, you can check out Basketball Classics for yourself today, or learn more about it below.
About:
Originally released on Steam in 2019, Basketball Classics delivers a love letter to the golden era of sports games. Now, two-man indie studio Namo Gamo has returned to the court to bring fast-paced, arcade-style hoops to players’ living rooms with retro-inspired 5-on-5 pick-up-and-play gameplay and bone-rattling dunks.
Inspired by the pick-up-and-play magic of classic sports titles like Tecmo Super Bowl, Basketball Classics channels the spirit of 8-bit and 16-bit sports games into a modern experience built for quick matches, couch competition, and highlight-reel plays. With its streamlined three-button controls and side-scrolling perspective, every possession is easy to jump into, while still leaving room for clutch shots, slick passes, and gravity-defying slams.
