At its core, Midgardr is a solo medieval board game that blends strategy and storytelling: city building, card-based mechanics, resource management, and meaningful choices — all packed into short, intense sessions. It strips away the grind of the strategy genre without sacrificing depth, adding instead a narrative layer that transforms the experience entirely. Think Inscryption meets city builder, with branching story paths and an engaging and mysterious tone.
You play as a Duke chosen by the King to govern a village at the edge of the realm: build your settlement, make your choices, follow the main story. But as you play, a mysterious meta-story begins to surface. A story that unfolds gradually, chapter by chapter, pulling the player deeper into a world that goes far beyond the board itself.
Since the demo and its first trailer, attentive players noticed hints of a hidden layer. Today's trailer makes it undeniable: Midgardr features a first-person gameplay component that exists alongside the city-building and card mechanics. that exists beyond the city building and card-based gameplay.
