Cyberpunk 2077 Edgerunners 2 Update Announced

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is now available to stream, and in honor of the release, CD PROJEKT RED has announced the Edgerunners 2 Update (Version 2.5) for Cyberpunk 2077 on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

The update will release on October 22nd, 2026, with the Switch 2 version to follow shortly after, and will introduce a range of new items and features to the game inspired by Edgerunners 2.

Night City burns again — all ten episodes of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 are now available to stream on Netflix. Four years after the release of the critically acclaimed Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, CD PROJEKT RED and Japanese animation studio TRIGGER return with another raw, uncompromising story set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077.

Through the eyes of an all-new cast of characters, each with their own hopes, fears, and motivations, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is a standalone series that plunges audiences deeper than ever into the chaos and violence of Night City, revealing new perspectives on life in the dark future. With the intertwining stories of a veteran edgerunner, a young cinephile, a chrome-obsessed delinquent, and a Snake Nation netrunner, the series tells a raw and emotional tale of vengeance and redemption.

This new installment is directed by Kai Ikarashi, with Kanno Ichigo as Lead Character Designer. Returning collaborators include Masahiko Otsuka and Hugo Award winner Bartosz Sztybor, who serves as showrunner, story writer, and producer. Both Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 are available to stream exclusively on Netflix. 

But Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is coming to more than just Netflix. On the day of the series' premiere, CD PROJEKT RED also announced a new update for Cyberpunk 2077, titled the Edgerunners 2 Update (Update 2.5). Set to release on October 22, 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, and XBOX Series S|X, the free update will introduce a range of new items and features to the game, including content inspired by Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. The Nintendo Switch 2 release will follow shortly.

More details about the Edgerunners 2 Update will be revealed on October 21, 2026, during a special episode of REDstreams, which will offer a first look at what's coming to Cyberpunk 2077. The episode will be broadcast on Twitch, YouTube, and Steam, with the official patch notes also scheduled for publication on the same day.
