Stupid Never Dies is Punk Rock at its Core, Producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi Discusses the Musical Journey

Producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi of GPTRACK 50 has shared a new video discussing Stupid Never Dies and its Punk Rock influences that helped shape the game to its core ahead of its release on October 21st, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and PC.

You can watch the new video message below, along with two of the game's official music videos.

About:

GPTRACK 50 knew very early on that music would play a central role in bringing the tone of Stupid Never Dies to life. Rather than adding music to the final game after development concluded, the team started with Davy’s theme song first and used the inspiration from that to shape the game. As Davy’s adventure starts with the classic “boy-meets-girl scenario”, the team knew right away that the pop-punk songs they loved in their youth would be the perfect genre to capture the unabashed joy of young love. From there, the team delved into the different characters and enemies that Davy would face along the way, asking themselves “if they made music, what would they make?”. To match the diversity of the game, the team expanded genres, blending everything – from metal, to rock, to electronic music, even traditional Japanese instrumentation and motifs – to create what they like to call “Neo Pop Punk”.

Music is also the backbone to the flow of the game, with songs that dynamically shift between tense exploration, high energy battles, and calmer rest spots while Davy explores KOM’s domain, to chill, Low-Fi Beats to Get Battle-Ready to in Davy’s Mall home base. Sound is deeply rooted in the player’s experience of the game: if the gameplay changes and evolves, the music changes and evolves alongside. The musical journey that GPTRACK50 takes players through is a key part of Stupid Never Dies’ funky style.

Stupid Never Dies Overview:

Developed by GPTRACK50, Stupid Never Dies delivers a single-player 3D action RPG experience unlike anything you’ve played before.

Set in a monster-ruled otherworldly dungeon, Stupid Never Dies puts you in control of Davy, a timid zombie living at the very bottom of monster society. Defeat enemies, level up, and collect strange items to grow stronger on your quest to bring Julia, a frozen human girl, back to life. Steal enemy abilities, customize your undead body with bizarre upgrades, and experience fast-paced combat packed with innovation.

Key Features of Stupid Never Dies:

Fight Like a Zombie:
The best defense is a good offence, according to Davy. Relentlessly attack enemies with reckless abandon – zombies don’t need to dodge if they can’t feel a punch! And with a flexible enemy targeting system, Davy can fight the hoards of enemies coming at him from every direction freely without being tied to a single target, keeping KOM’s army on their toes.

Blazing Fast Growth:
What if you could play a 30+ hour ARPG but reach max level in just 30 minutes? Drawing inspiration from aspects of roguelike mechanics, every dungeon dive starts with Davy at level 1 but enemies defeated across previous dives increase growth rate – and XP gain – exponentially, resulting in a faster, more intense experience.

Eat Your Enemies:
A zombie’s most famous attack is his chomp. With “Style Eat”, Davy not only repairs any damage his deathly body has taken, but absorbs the powers of whatever enemy he eats – werewolves, harpies, vampires, and more. With over 11 styles to devour, Davy can become the ultimate monster-munching machine!

(Body) Hack the Planet: Collect powerful Over Technology from each dive and visit Acelino’s shop to hack Davy’s body, modifying his arms, legs and head to unlock devastating powers.

Stupidity Beyond Belief: Interdimensional toilets, a robot vacuum cleaner you can ride, a bizarre cast of loveable characters, and a love story for the ages – there’s never a dull moment in Stupid Never Dies!

Stupid Never Dies will be available for PC via Steam and PlayStation 5 on October 21, 2026, followed by a Japan release on October 22. The game will be available for purchase as a Standard Edition for $49.99 USD, or as part of the Stupid Never Dies: Glorious Idiot Edition for $59.99 USD. A demo for Stupid Never Dies is now available on Steam and PlayStation.

The game will be available in English, with English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Polish, Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese as supported subtitle languages.
