We believe that reviews should speak for themselves, and fully explain to the reader what they are getting into. Not everyone will enjoy the same game, and we think that is perfectly okay! So for our general ratings, we stick to a Recommended/Not Recommended format and let the review speak for itself. However, for those wishing to understand our ratings a bit better, here is a break down of what our ratings translate to:

Essential

While no game is truly 100% perfect, games we list as Essential are titles we personally feel are ones that deserve to be played. These are "must-have" titles that we cannot recommend more than enough. (5/5)

Recommended

Recommended games are ones we loved, and can easily recommend others to play. They may have some minor issues here or there, but the good outweighs the bad, and we feel those who give it a chance will enjoy it. (4/5)

Maybe

Maybe games are a tough call. These are games that have good points for sure, but are held back by one thing or another. They are games that some people will be able to look past the bad and still enjoy, while others will simply not have a fun time at all. It will depend on the player, and our review will help you decide which side you fall on. (3/5)

Not Recommended

Not Recommended games are ones we have a hard time recommending to anyone. These games either have fundamental issues that hold them back, or some other problem that makes it hard to enjoy. Despite this, there is always the chance that someone will still enjoy the game, so our reviews will still describe Not Recommended games in great detail so you can decide for yourself. (2/5)

Avoid

As the rating suggests, these are games you shouldn't even bother looking at. We still cover these games like any other and fully describe what it is like, but we really think these games should be avoided at all costs. (1/5)
