There has been some level of consternation regarding this game's announcement, given that support was more or less halted for Riot's critically acclaimed digital League of Legends card game, known as Legends of Runeterra. Some vocal fans feel that Runeterra didn't deserve to die just for a new League-themed card game to take its place.
Personally, I'm looking forward to a physical League trading card game. I enjoyed my time with Legends of Runeterra, but digital card games will never be as satisfying to me as a physical card game. I want to feel the intense meth-like high of ripping into a pack of cards, pulling a cool card and then working into a deck and playing with a friend at my dinner table. I'm glad to see that the card design is still up in the air as well, as most people have felt that the cards look somewhat cheap in the way they're currently designed. Riot really needs to stick the landing with this, as the trading card game market is well-saturated. I think they can do it though, and I'm pulling for them.
