What Are You Playing This Weekend?

Hey Netto's Game Room readers. I hope your week went well and you're having a great Easter.

Last week, I mentioned that I was returning to Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which I had started several months back on my PlayStation 3. This was a game that I've loved for a long time, but had never gotten very far in. I remember playing a demo disc on my PS2 in maybe 2002, and it had a demo of Sands of Time. The relatively fluid combat and parkour gripped me back then, but I found it prohibitively difficult. All these years and several attempts later and I'm happy to report that I've finally beaten this game. I expect to write a review soon where I can go into deeper detail and try to elaborate on my mixed feelings. Overall though, I really enjoyed my time with the game and I think it has aged pretty well.

Other than that, I spent some time with the incredibly difficult tower defense game Kingdom Rush Frontiers. I absolutely adore that franchise and had a blast laboring through Frontiers, but ultimately couldn't beat the final stage. It was too frustrating and time consuming. But, if you like tower defense games, I can't recommend that series enough. I also downloaded SD Gundam G Generation Eternal, which just launched on mobile platforms. This game absolutely rules. It's a very fair gacha title with tons of Gundams and mobile suits to collect and battle through several campaigns themed around the various Gundam TV shows, and it plays like a Fire Emblem-esque tactics title. Very much up my alley. My beloved Mobile Fighter G Gundam has several characters in the expansive roster. That's the anime with the bizarre stereotypical nation-themed Gundams, like the infamous Tequila Gundam from Mexico, that wears a sombrero and has cacti mounted on it. They don't have my personal favorite Gundam ever - Pharaoh Gundam from the same Mobile Fighter show, but they did have this hilarious Dutch Windmill Gundam in the game.

Now that I've completed Prince of Persia, I could peel off in a few different directions. I still need to start Season 2 of Marvel Rivals. I could roll straight into Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, the sequel to Sands of Time. Or I could move into some of my DS or 3DS titles that I haven't beaten yet. I also have Soulcalibur V on my PS3 that I want to dive into. God, I love that series. Please bring back Soulcalibur, I'm begging you!

What are you playing this weekend? Is anyone checking out RuneScape: Dragonwilds? I'm a long time player of RuneScape. My character is nearly twenty years old, so I'm intimately familiar with the game and very fond of it, so I really want to try this new spin-off. The idea of running around a 3D, highly detailed version of the RuneScape world intrigues me to no end. I'll have to try it ASAP. Let me know down in the comments what you're up to! God Bless and have a great weekend and a happy Easter!

    2. It is an insane RPG from the 2000s. It’s more visual novel as it has tons of dialogue, but it is set in a world with extremely deep lore, and unique music! It’s by the developers of Atelier, and plays similar to the PS2 era games. We haven’t had a new entry since 2013 sadly, and that was with Ar Nosurge. Although the fan translation of Ceil Nosurge is there now as well (we have an article about it actually!)
