In an interview with Japanese Media Outlet Gamer, Falcom president Toshihiro Kondo discussed the remake of Trails in the Sky FC, Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, and revealed that it takes roughly 80 hours to finish the game.
The original interview can be found here (spoiler warning as they discuss quite a bit regarding the original game), and multiple interesting topics are brought up.
In the interview, it was revealed that the volume of voice lines in 1st Chapter exceeds any previously released Trails title, and plenty of additional dialogue has been added on top of the original script. Characters now speak when traveling the open fields, with conversation skits also taking place among the party members when arriving at new locations.
Additional content also comes from new side quests, and locations that couldn't be previously explored in the original version of the game.
Regarding the length, here is the direct quote from Kondo:
I think the original version has less than forty hours of play time, but at the programmer meeting the other day, the main programmer said that it took eighty hours to clear "Trails in the sky the 1st". After all, the map is large, isn't it? There may be a reason why I put the search system on the map to some extent.
There are many map exploration elements compared to the past series, and I found that it takes twice as much as the original if you do the quest properly, and you can watch the event while listening to the voice properly. You may have a long time to watch the event. In the past, I used to scroll at the speed that was really displayed, and the original was nice. When I started playing for the sake of supervision, it was not over, and I reached out for more than a week.
Of course with this being said, length will depend on playstyles. Out of personal experience, my previous save of Trails in the Sky FC clocked in around 120 hours which was a result of me reading every piece of dialogue, as NPC dialogue changes after every story event, and completing the vast majority of side content. Others can clear the game within 40 hours as Kondo previously stated, but it is possible to get through it faster when using speed up options and skipping NPCs. So if the remake truly lasts 80 hours, or much longer, will completely be up to each player, but it is possible it will take much longer to complete as well.
Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter is set to launch on September 19th, 2025, on Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC.
