Ubisoft and Tencent Establish Vantage Studios, Gives Complete Freedom to Developers

Ubisoft and Tencent have established Vantage Studios, a new development studio and business venture that allows developers to have complete creative control over Assassin's Creed, Farcry, and Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6.

As previously announced in July of this year, Christophe Derennes and Charlie Guillemot have been appointed as CEOs, and they are dedicated to helping each series reach their full potential.

Christophe Derennes co-founded Ubisoft's Montreal studio in 1997 and served as Managing Director for the North American Region. Meanwhile Charlie Guillemot started his career in gaming at Owlient in 2014, which was a studio later acquired by Ubisoft.

The formation of Vantage Studios comes after many years of declining sales, company layoffs, and less than stellar reception from the fanbase. Assassin's Creed Valhalla released in 2020 and broke sales records, and has achieved roughly 20 million sales and generated over $1 Billion in revenue, meanwhile 2024's Assassin Creed Shadow is estimated to have only generated $180 million in comparison, with 5 million players.
