About:
Primarily known as a long-running Spanish-language podcast, Mega Mixtape makes its first foray into collaborative arrangement albums with Feature Length highlighting 14 tracks spanning the original Donkey Kong Country trilogy for the Super Nintendo. It comes as an eclectic compilation that showcases the camaraderie, talent, and diversity of the Dwelling of Duels videogame music remixing competition and videogame music cover artists. Arrangements touch on everything from bossa nova to progressive rock with fresh perspectives and a tongue-in-cheek homages to the works of composers David Wise and Eveline Novakovic. Latin American artists, such as Pokérus Project, TheManPF and jnWake are joined by those from across the US and Canada, including Ronin Op F, Ian Martyn, evilsonic, Ian Cowell, Gregorio Franco, Extrinzic and Biggoron.
“After interviewing artists from the Dwelling of Duels community and getting a taste of their talent and wholeheartedness, this release is the least we can do,” says Mega Mixtape’s founder Pablo Naop. “Helping their music reach new audiences beyond the competition is of utmost importance to us. And since many artists showed an interest in covering music from the Donkey Kong Country trilogy after the David Wise Month contest in November 2024, we found the perfect opportunity to collaborate in a new kind of project.”
Feature Length is available on all platforms, but a comprehensive digital booklet is available exclusively on Bandcamp, featuring behind-the-scenes comments, full bios for all participating artists, and more than 25 illustrations by Patricio “Pokérus” Thielemann.
