Lego Horizon Adventures has been added to PlayStation Plus as both a free monthly game for December of 2025, and as a PlayStation Catalog release for those with PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium; however, it is important that owners of the monthly version avoid redeeming this version of the game.
This is a continued issue that has been applied to multiple games on the PlayStation Game Catalog, as redeeming the Catalog version of a monthly title will actually replace it due to a glitch.
In other words, while PlayStation Plus monthly games remain free to play as long as a user has an existing sub (or if they resubscribe to the service), Catalog titles are only available at select times. The moment a game is removed from the Catalog, it cannot be played until it is added back to the service—if that day were to ever come.
With Lego Horizon Adventures, those who redeem the monthly version will still be able to play it years from now, but the Catalog version can be removed at any time. So when redeeming it is important that PlayStation Plus users redeem the monthly version this December, and avoid redeeming the Catalog release entirely.
This isn't the first title to have this issue on PlayStation Plus, as previous monthly games have been added to the Catalog as well. Unexpected users who redeemed these titles a second time lost access to them once the Catalog version was pulled, with no way to restore their previously redeemed monthly version.
What to do if you redeemed both:
If you mistakenly redeemed both versions, there are really only two options available to you.
First you can try going into your account options and restoring the license to the previously redeemed monthly version of the title. If this doesn't work, you can also try contacting Sony's technical support and explain the situation.
If neither option returns the game to you, then sadly you will have to wait for Sony to eventually fix the issue. Either way, it is best to avoid this situation entirely if possible.
