Tales of Eternia Remastered Rated by PEGI

PEGI (Pan European Game Information) has rated Tales of Eternia Remastered for the Nintendo Switch ahead of an official announcement.

Tales of Eternia was originally released in Japan in 2000, followed by a North American release the next year under the title Tales of Destiny II (not to be confused with the actual Tales of Destiny 2, which is a direct sequel to the original Tales of Destiny). The game was later ported to the PSP in 2005, with English versions arriving in Europe and Australia in 2006. This specific version was never released in the United States, and, despite being an improvement over the PlayStation release, it still had most of the game's iconic "skits" removed. Thanks to this, a complete official English translation for the game does not currently exist, bringing into question what a remastered version might look like.

Sadly the PEGI rating doesn't provide additional information regarding the remaster, but it is a good indication that an official announcement will be coming in the near future. While the title is currently listed as a Nintendo Switch release, it is highly likely it will be launching on other platforms as well, as Bandai Namco's current Tales of Remastered Project continues.

Brief outline of the game

Role-playing game which follows the story of Reid and his friends, Farah and Keele, as they meet a mysterious girl named Meredy who speaks an unknown language. Their subsequent quest to discover her origins leads them across a dimensional boundary to an entirely different realm known as Celestia.

Content specific issues

This game contains depictions of non-realistic looking violence towards human and fantasy characters. Players defeat pixelated enemies using magical attacks and will wield weapons such as daggers, spears, swords and axes. Violence can be frenetic with exaggerated and colourful impact-like effects. Players have a health bar which depletes when hit and characters can be heard and seen in a non-detailed way reacting to pain upon impact. If a member of the player's squad is defeated in battle, they will remain on the ground, whilst defeated enemies typically quickly vanish. This game also contains the use of bad language, including 'bastard'.
