SEGA and Rovio have announced a complete reboot of their previously released card game, Sonic Blitz; Sonic Blitz 2.0 is now an action team-building RPG with running levels.
The game will be available beginning today in the Philippines for a technical test on Android, and beginning May 28th the game will also go live in Brazil. Rovio stressed that the game is currently not finished, and asked that players bear with them as they continue to improve it.
As announced via the game's official Discord Server, the biggest change to the game lies within its core itself. The game has transitioned from a card game, to one with fast-paced real-time RPG battles. In this version players will be able to collect and upgrade characters, build teams, and run between battles to power-up for the next challenge.
It has been stated the game will still feel familiar to those who played the original Sonic Blitz, and the previously released characters from the Sonic Universe are still in fact here, with more to be added as the game continues to develop.
At this time a US release has yet to be announced, but it will be coming in the near future.
