Pre-Ordering Ace Combat 8 Might Be The Only Chance to Get Ace Combat Zero HD

Earlier this week Bandai Namco announced Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theves' pre-orders were now live, and that those who purchase early will receive a copy of Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War; however, there is one little detail that has been left out. This might be the one and only chance to purchase Ace Combat Zero.

As many may know, Ace Combat Zero itself is often widely considered to be one of the best entries within the series, and for good reason, and the thought of being able to play it on modern hardware is great news! But what Bandai Namco has failed to mention is the fact that these digital releases of past entries typically remain pre-order exclusive, and can never be purchased again.

Of course this has yet to be officially confirmed, but one can simply take a look back at the previously released Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown. Those who pre-ordered the PlayStation 4 version of the title received a copy of Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War, which we previously reviewed, while Xbox owners were given a digital copy of Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation. Since then, neither title has ever been re-released to the public, meaning those who missed out on the pre-order window, also missed out on both titles—though at least a physical copy of Ace Combat 6 isn't too difficult to track down.

Unfortunately it is very likely that Bandai Namco will follow the same trend with Ace Combat Zero's release, meaning fans might want to think twice before sleeping on pre-ordering the game. Thankfully there is plenty of time between now and Ace Combat 8's October 2nd release, so this isn't something that needs to be rushed into.

Just thought we'd give everyone a heads up! (And hopefully we're wrong, as it would be a shame if future fans are unable to play it simply because they were late to the party.)
