Colin Moriarty, long time game journalist and owner of Last Stand and co-owner of Lillymo Games, has obtained an audience with a congressman in Virginia to discuss the issues with an all digital future in gaming.
Colin, considered the "grandfather of PlayStation podcasts," operates Sacred Symbols and recently had his PlayStation account hacked. This event demonstrated how easy it is for unauthorized users to gain access to an account, which was accomplished by social engineering PlayStation Network chat support assistants.
Following this event, PlayStation announced that physical discs would cease production in 2028, paving the way for an all-digital future on the platform. Driven by the fear that anyone could lose their account at the drop of a hat, Colin has reached out and gained an audience with his congressman to draw wider attention to how digital ownership functions and how easily consumers can lose access to their purchased digital goods.
In a post he shared to social media, Colin had this to say:
"For the first time in my life, I wrote a detailed letter to my Congressman in hopes that I can get a meeting with his team about this severe problem. While I assume nothing will come of it, we've gotta start pressing the issue for all of us. I'll continue doing everything I can!"
Following this post, on August 5th, 2026 he confirmed they had agreed to meet with him.
While we'll have to wait to see what comes of this, it is another step towards the battle against our digital future, which Sony themselves plan to follow through with, despite the recent backlash.
In other news, PNP Games' petition "Don't Kill the Disc: Tell Sony to Keep Physical PlayStation Games" has also reached over 350,00 signatures.
