Meet Roby:
About Roby:
Roby's History:
Roby's original inception was in early 2001, when Netto's Game Room founder Benjamin wanted to pursue his dreams of becoming a game developer. Though young at the time, he had plans for the character and began charting his future. With dozens upon dozens of storyboards being created, along with side characters to accompany him, Roby's world grew with each passing day. Finally, a few years later in 2003, those plans were set into motion.
Dubbed Project 2000 (a working title), an indie game starring Roby went into development. Joined by a group of friends, Ben got to work creating the game as a 2D action-platformer. While an initial concept was completed, featuring roughly 30 stages and multiple boss fights, the project was ultimately put on hold indefinitely while it was still in its alpha stage. As the years went on, the game was eventually canceled, as hardware and software incompatibilities would have required a complete restart from scratch. Since then, Roby has been prototyped in 3D and made an appearance at the college Ben attended, but it wasn't until 2026 that he made his official debut as one of the mascots of Netto's Game Room. This modernized version of his design was created by Joonatan "CheerfulJonsku" Syrjätie and was altered to embrace his video game roots as a manager of the fictional representation of "Netto's Game Room."
