The iconic, storied video game magazine Game Informer unceremoniously shuttered last year, bringing an incredible legacy to a quiet, hushed, whimper of an ending; through no fault of the staff, might I add. It was hinted at when the staff of G.I. went on the The MinnMax Show podcast that they were trying to pull something together behind the scenes, and I'm amped to see that their efforts became manifest.
If you go to the Game Informer website right now, they have uploaded tons of reviews and features of games that came out since the brand was killed off, showing that they have clearly been working on these things covertly for some time now. There is also a wonderful video announcing their return, notably with the entire crew that worked for G.I. at the time of the brand's demise.
They are bringing back the famed magazine as well, which is incredibly exciting. I am a lover of print games coverage, preferring that to getting my gaming news from a Youtuber or another website. I actually wrote about that very topic here last year, right around when G.I. closed. Pricing hasn't been announced yet, but it appears that you can create a free account and they will roll out more information soon for magazine pricing, subscription plans, etc.
While we are a comparatively way smaller outlet than Game Informer, it is just wonderful to see these fine folks back in action.
Congratulations, Game Informer. We can't wait to see what you do.
