As reported first by Gematsu, it appears that the beloved Plants vs. Zombies franchise might be seeing a new entry imminently. It might not actually be a new game per say, rather a remaster of the original title. The platforms listed are PS5, Xbox Series, Switch, PC, iOS and Android, which to me further confirms that it is a classic style Plants vs. Zombies title, because of the inclusion of mobile platforms, rather than a Garden Warfare third-person shooter style game, which has traditionally been on console and PC only. Gematsu also noted that the "production year" lists 2009, which is the year that the original game released, further indicating that this is a remaster of sorts.
I'm sure most fans, like myself, hope to see this serve as a return to form for the Plants vs. Zombies series. While the Garden Warfare spin-offs are excellent, they are not tower-defense games like the original games. One controversy surrounding the older Plants vs. Zombies titles is that they shifted from being a premium, paid title with a small price tag into being "freemium" games that were riddled with microtransactions. I'm hoping that they do a proper remaster and treat this game with the respect that it deserves.
It has been quite awhile since we’ve seen anything new from PvZ! Interested in seeing what this is
ReplyDeleteWe need GW3
DeleteI think they did Garden Warfare 3. It was called Battle for Neighborville. I never tried it.
