Hello everyone! This is the type of article I had to write, and it isn't fool proof for the time being.
As some of you may know, Netto's Game Room operates on Blogger, and has since 2013. Today however a glitch hit most Blogger sites and flagged them for deletion. It is currently being looked into, but as a result we lost Netto's Game Room for the time being.
So what are you seeing at this moment you might ask? This is actually a secret backup we use for testing! Before we push full changes to the site, we try them out here ahead of time. So until the issues are resolved, we've restored the previous articles, and we've relinked the domain.
Going forward, we'll keep an eye on our original site, and wait for Google to fix the issue we've encountered. Hundreds of websites are currently impacted, and hopefully the same doesn't happen to our backup.
We'll keep everyone posted, and return to full operation as soon as possible.
Current Site Issues:
While we wait for the full restoration, there are a few issues we'd like users to be aware of.
- All articles will be under my name, Benjamin.
- Our trending articles and all time trending counter has been reset. We recently crossed 5 million unique views and were going to share a thank you message, but our counter is now back to 0.
- The old banner is back in place, and there are a few layout issues. Some reports state messing with our template can cause the site to be deleted again, so we'll play it safe for now.
- Search descriptions for our articles have vanished. Standard SEO practice should still pick everything up, but the metadata when sharing articles on social media might encounter issues.
- Some of our articles have doubled up. We'll work on removing the major ones, but this shouldn't be a problem once we switch back to the original website.
What's Next:
We plan to continue operation as usual, however for the next day we'll take things a bit slower and watch the situation. Any new articles we can always import to the "original site," but we might be a bit slower than usual. With so many websites impacted it can take anywhere from a few hours to several business days before this is resolved.
As for our scheduled reviews, plans have not changed, and they will go live at their scheduled embargo dates as originally intended.
Help my Blogger Blog was deleted also! What can I do?
Sadly this is a waiting game, but all Blogger users should check their account. If you own multiple blogs look for a warning icon to know if it has been locked. If so, you can follow the included steps, which should have also been emailed to you, to appeal the false report.
You only have 11 days to do so, and your blog could be deleted if actions are not taken within 90 days.
According to some Reddit users, those who get their blogs reinstated are still at risk of deletion again if you modify the main template or layout in any way. Until this problem is fixed, do not make modifications outside of new posts! Those who want to know more about this issue, Cyber Security News has shared a great article covering the incident, while PCC Land has further broken down what has occurred.
