What Are You Playing This Weekend?

Hey Netto's Game Room readers, I hope your week went well. Mine went pretty smoothly, and I'm looking forward to seeing some family and friends this weekend.

Last week, I was wrapping up the Pick-Up Bundle challenges on Marvel Rivals. I grabbed the Deadpool & Wolverine skin for Wolverine with my costume token. I had to get my favorite Canadian in his classic yellow and blue suit. I can't stand Wolverine's default outfit in Rivals. He has no mask, and he's just in a jacket and pants. It looks dumb, so I had to ameliorate that ASAP. Season 2 of Marvel Rivals started yesterday, and I'm excited to dive into that some this weekend and see the new Krakoa map, try out Emma Frost and get cracking on the new battle pass.

I mentioned last week that I was going to throw myself back into Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom. I played it a little bit and fell off again. It's not the game's fault, I just wasn't feeling it. It's really quite a wonderful game if you like a meaty action-platformer. I bounced around to a few different things that have been on my backlog for a while. I wanted to try the playtest of a game called Luminous Nights, which is a One Thousand and One Nights-themed action-RPG with Kingdom Hearts-inspired combat, but the demo wouldn't recognize my controller on Steam, so I passed on that. I also sunk an hour or so into the Bloodborne kart racer, Nightmare Kart. I was impressed by the surprisingly deep mechanics and aesthetic of Nightmare Kart but the actual handling of the driving turned me off from finishing it. If you're a diehard Bloodborne fan, or like the idea of a horror kart racer, I recommend it. Nightmare Kart is free on Steam.

Finally, I decided to come back around to my trusty PlayStation 3 (my favorite PlayStation console generation, by the way.) I had started Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time several months back and fell off, so now I've locked-in on that and aim to finish it soon. I really like the Prince of Persia series. I wish Ubisoft could figure out what they want to do with their Sands of Time remake that has been in the hopper for years now. I played the original game as a kid, but I've never finished it. The dream-like, mystical, medieval Persian setting is very unique and the combat is still pretty satisfying twenty-two years later. You can clearly see the blueprints for Assassin's Creed in this game.

What are you playing this weekend? Are you checking out Season 2 of Marvel Rivals? Are you still powering through the new Monster Hunter Wilds update? Let me know down in the comments! Have a great weekend and God bless!

  1. After a stressful week of taking the dog to the vet, I think this weekend I’ll focus on more relaxing games. Monster Hunter will be there too, but there are some visual novels I want to go back to! Maybe Little Busters?

    2. It is the visual novel Key created not too long after Clannad. I've had it for years, but never got around to giving it a full chance! It popped up on my Steam list yesterday while I was looking through stuff, and just sounded like a good idea lol. And the puppy is doing great now! Eye is mostly better

  4. Refreshing those THPS skills for 3-4, and checking out Black Beacon, the new gacha on mobile. Might run around Cyberpunk if I can crush some project progress.
