After 9 Years, Nintendo Finally Fixes the Nintendo eShop with Nintendo Switch Update 22.5.0

Nintendo has released Nintendo Switch Update 22.5.0, and with it came a very much requested improvement; a revamp of the Nintendo eShop.

The update released on June 15th, 2026 and brings the Nintendo Switch 2 style eShop to the original Nintendo Switch.

Previously the original eShop was infamously known for its long load times when opening the app, and while simply navigating the store. When the Nintendo Switch 2 released, one of the first things fans noticed was how quick the new eShop was, and how it loaded almost instantly. Well surprisingly this faster performance is now on the original Switch, providing users with a much smoother, and quicker, experience. Additionally the eShop color scheme will now match the system settings.

For more, here are the complete patch notes:

  • The Nintendo eShop layout has been redesigned.
    • The Nintendo eShop color will now reflect the theme color if your theme in System Settings is set to “Basic Dark.”
  • User-Verification PIN can now be used to confirm when “Accessing Nintendo eShop” and “Using Saved Payment Methods.”
  • Added the ability to rewind 10 seconds/advance 10 seconds with the ZL and ZR Buttons when watching a full screen video in News or Nintendo eShop.
  • General system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience.
